Gippsland Ports selects Acoustic Imaging as Preferred Supplier for MBES

In February 2020 Acoustic Imaging were awarded a contract to supply a new multibeam echosounder system to Gippsland Ports along with providing installation/calibration/performance testing and training to survey personnel. The sonar selected was a R2Sonic 2022 with an ultra-high frequency option and TruePix / Beam Time Series backscatter data.

Lead Scientist Nicole Bergersen notes the growing uptake of Acoustic Imaging services related to multibeam echosounder systems. “We are seeing more hydrographic mapping agencies in Australia appreciate an independent and comprehensive assessment of system performance from the installation stage through to system’s contract-specified lifespan. We strive to provide our clients with the tools, training, and support structure to fully understand how a system performs for the bulk of their mapping tasks and what it is capable of achieving within their local survey environment. We also provide techniques for early identification of performance degradation and practical tips for problem isolation. Both result in quicker and more cost-effective solutions if a problem arises.”
