February 2016 Canberra : Acoustic Imaging conducts SonarWiz training course to Geoscience Australia

Acoustic Imaging, the Australian-based certified reseller and training centre for Chesapeake Technology SonarWiz, conducted a 1-day short course for Geoscience Australia on sidescan sonar and subbottom profiler/seismic data processing. The course covered fundamentals of acquisition systems and data types, leading into the import / processing / interpretation of both towed and pole-mounted systems. Advanced processing options offered by SonarWiz including Map Corrections for sidescan sonar data and Datum Alignment for SBP/seismic data were received well by Geoscience Australia personnel.

Course instructor Dr. Douglas Bergersen noted: “SonarWiz fills an important gap in Geoscience Australia’s workflow because it easily reads and processes so many different data formats received by the organisation from outside sources. One example is the MH370 search survey where a number of reports and data examples from the contracted survey companies are derived from their use of the software offshore.“
