March 2006: IVS3D Launches Certified Training Center in Asia-Pacific

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IVS 3D LAUNCHES CERTIFIED TRAINING CENTER

Acoustic Imaging Pty Ltd as newest Certified Training Center for Pacific region

Portsmouth, NH USA- April 1, 2006- IVS 3D announced the certification of Dr Douglas Bergersen, Director of Acoustic Imaging (AI), as their certified instructor in the Pacific region for the award winning Fledermaus software suite.
IVS Director of Sales and Marketing, Bill McKernan, stated, “As technology advances our clients require a knowledgeable resource that not only understands the capability of the entire Fledermaus suite, but also has the experience in the ocean industry that enables them to understand the clients needs and goals. This combination is essential for any of our certified support and training centers. The combined expertise at Acoustic Imaging is exactly what our clients in the Pacific region are looking for. We look forward to accelerated growth in this region due to partners like Acoustic Imaging.”
Acoustic Imaging’s mandate is to offer innovative solutions to marine geophysical projects active in Austral-Asia region. The company, along with QSea Innovations Pty Ltd, introduced the Triton Isis product to the Australian oil and gas market, and were one of the first groups to extensively use digital high resolution marine geophysical data to view and understand the seabed (i.e., in the form of mosaics and fused imagery from the seabed and subsurface). Dr. Bergersen graduated from the University of Hawaii with a MSc. and Ph.D in Marine Geology and Geophysics, and then migrated to Australia where he has worked in the offshore industry since 1995. Of the new relationship with IVS, he stated, “Acoustic Imaging continues to expand on our mission statement of introducing innovative solutions to the Austral-Asia market. The powerful data visualization, analysis, and processing capabilities of Fledermaus compliment the extensive knowledge base of marine operations obtained from participating and managing offshore surveys for the past 20 years. Acoustic Imaging offers a practical blend of offshore experience with industry-leading tools for total survey / system solutions. Our highly qualified staff and consultants look forward to moving the industry in exciting new directions.”
Acoustic Imaging is located in Pretty Beach, NSW, Australia, approximately 1 hour from the Sydney CBD. For more information visit their website at www.acousticimaging.com

Interactive Visualization Systems' (IVS3D) Fledermaus software suite provides users with a powerful set of interactive 3D visualization tools for data preparation, analysis and presentation. Fledermaus allows users near real-time, interactive 3D display of very large complex scenes at their full resolution. Users rapidly gain insight and extract more information from their combined data (data sets such as multi-beam, LIDAR, magnetic and gravity, in fact any surface data that has an x, y, z, variables format).

If you would like more information on this topic, or to schedule a training session, please contact Nicole Bergersen at (02) 4360 1496 or email: info@acousticimaging.com.

21 Nov: Hydro 2007 3D Visualisation Workshop

Acoustic Imaging and IVS3D are pleased to be participating in the upcoming Hydro 2007 conference in Cairns, Australia.

One of the highlights of the conference program is a complimentary workshop presented by Lindsay Gee and Rob Spillard on Wednesday 21st November. The workshop focus will be on optimized work flows for hydrographic data validation and the generation of chart products.

Lindsay Gee, General Manager of IVS 3D Inc., has over 20 years experience with hydrographic and ocean mapping surveys. The IVS3D flagship product, Fledermaus, has been at the forefront of interactive 3D visualization for hydrographic validation and Lindsay will present practical workflows in use by many organizations throughout the world.

Rob Spillard, Hydrography Manager of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), will provide case examples of how the Fledermaus product suite has been incorporated into their production flow, and how affiliated organizations are using Fledermaus-derived products for the monitoring of channel migration.

Workshop Brief: The vast increase in data from swath sonar surveys presents many challenges in managing, interacting, presenting and particularly verifying that the data is “good” and suitable for the intended purpose or client - hydrographic, geologic, engineering, geo-hazard or site surveys.
Instead of sparse data that must be interpolated, we now have near complete and often overlapping coverage of the seafloor, and the combination of data density and 3D visualization provides a greatly enhanced understanding of seafloor processes. This provides the redundancy to help reduce the uncertainties involved with the measurements and also an environment and workflow for efficient data analysis and quality control.
The workshop will explore the use 3D visualization in the hydrographic data processing workflow for analysis validation.
Examples of methods and procedures will be presented.

Workshop Details: Fledermaus: 3D Visualization Techniques for Quality Control and Processing
Presenters: Lindsay Gee, CEO IVS3D & Rob Spillard, Hydrography Manager of MCA.
Workshop session: 9:00am, Wednesday 21st November.
Registration: For complimentary registration see the Hydro 2007 link on the Australian Hydrographic Society website.

If you would like more information, please contact us at info@acousticimaging.com or call our office on +61 2 4360 1496.
