System Solutions

Founded in 1996 by geophysicist and geologist, Dr Douglas Bergersen, Acoustic Imaging offers innovative solutions for marine geophysical projects in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company's team, with over 20 years' experience in the field, combines a practical blend of offshore experience with industry-leading tools for total survey and system solutions.  This includes analysing the project objectives and survey environment, recommending suitable equipment and end products to satisfy the client, and consulting throughout the life span of the venture.

Interacting with a network of industry experts and equipped with some of the most sophisticated software on the market, Acoustic Imaging can provide an optimal solution for every project. System solutions include:

  • Consulting on offshore survey techniques including multibeam sonar; sidescan sonar; subbottom profiler; seismic data acquisition; processing, analysis; and interpretation
  • System Integration
  • Project management
  • Professional report writing, editing and reviews

Data Management / Data Processing

The Acoustic Imaging team has ample experience in producing the data deliverables required for the offshore industry. From fully validated hydrographic data sets to sidescan sonar mosaics to reflector horizons and isopachs from subbottom profiler and seismic data, we have the tools and data management schemes in place to accurately and efficiently administer your project to a successful conclusion.

 Data management services include:
  • Survey planning
  • Data processing
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and validation
  • Technical report writing

Certified Training Centre

Acoustic Imaging is the certified training centre in the Asia-Pacific region for IVS3D software products. Courses typically run between 3 to 5 days, and can include theoretical background behind survey techniques, hands-on practice with the various software products, and offshore training on data acquisition and data processing methodology.

Acoustic Imaging has recently become a training centre for the Applanix POSPac MMS software suite. POSPac MMS is a post-processing software solution for positioning and orientation data acquired by the Applanix POS MV system. The resultant Statistical Best Estimate Trajectory (SBET) file fixes many problems typically associated with multibeam echo sounder surveys and the availability of Precise Point Positioning techniques can circumvent the need to purchase expensive commercial RTK or DGPS services for offshore surveys.

All training workshops include:

  • On-site training
  • Syllabus tailored to company requirements
  • Sample data sets for hands-on training in acquisition, processing and analysis procedures
  • Hardcopy training guides and manuals to accompany sample data sets
  • Use of client-supplied data to identify problems and create efficient work-flows
  • Post-training support

Fledermaus Training Workshops

Fledermaus Short Course: One-day Module

Topics covered in this course include:

  • Transition from Fledermaus V6 to V7 capabilities;
  • New import capabilities, tools, coordinate system support, and time support in Fledermaus;
  • DMagic as a project management tool;
  • Fly-through and movie generation capabilities;
  • Introduction to and usage of the Space Navigator.

FM Viz4D, FM Hydro, FM Habitat, and FM Offshore: Three-day Modules

Each software bundle above requires a 3-day course. Baseline topics covered in each course include:

  • Review of general Fledermaus principles and capabilities of the V7 release;
  • New import capabilities, tools, coordinate system support, and time support in Fledermaus;
  • DMagic as a project management tool;
  • Introduction to the IVS Hydrographic Workflow (FM Hydro);
  • Introduction to FMGeocoder and ARA seabed characterisation (FM Habitat);
  • Introduction and use of Route Planner (FM Offshore);
  • Data deliverables and presentation tips.

FM Pro: Five-day Module

This course includes all topics covered in the Short Course and FM Bundle courses.

Training manuals and certificates are issued to each course attendee. We recommend that the client provide a computer for each participant within a given course. All software and training datasets for the workshop is provided by Acoustic Imaging.
