Acoustic Imaging Training Workshop 'Bathymetry, Backscatter and Water Column' Sydney, 24-26 October 2018

Acoustic Imaging is pleased to announce a Regional Training Workshop to be held at the University of Sydney on October 24-26, 2018 in advance of the Hydro 2018 conference.

The focus of the workshop is on an optimised processing workflow for bathymetry, backscatter and water column data between the QPS software applications Qimera and Fledermaus.  The course will highlight the ease of processing cleaning data with the guided workflow of Qimera, and how to generate various combined products within Fledermaus, FMGT and FMMidwater.

This will be the first course offered with the latest release of Fledermaus Version 8.  New capabilities include a substantially enhanced graphics engine, a streamlined user interface, new slide and movie generation options, and add-ons supporting towed camera / ROV video displays.

The course will be hand-on, software and data is provided and sessions presented by certified QPS training personnel.

Course sechedule is:

  • Oct 24: Qimera Bathymetry Data Processing and Cleaning
  • Oct 25: Fledermaus Data Integration, Analysis and Visualisation
  • Oct 26: Working with backscatter (FMGT) and water column data (Qimera and FMMidwater).

University of Sydney Geo-Coastal Research Group, Masden Building (Room 301).

 

Cost:  

The course is subsidised so as not to exclude students from attending.  It is $200 / day / person.  Cost includes training material, training dongles and training datasets.  Attendees are expected to provide their own laptop.

Time:

The course commences at 0900 and concludes at 1630.

The University of Sydney can be accessed by Train, Bus, Bicycle or on foot.  Timetables are available on the Sydney Transportation App.

What to bring:

This is a hands-on workshop with real data.  Bring your laptop and please download and install the most recent versions of QINSy, Qimera, Fledermaus and add-ons (SVP Inversion TU Delft, ENC Plus, FMGT, FMMW, FMGIS) from the QPS Website.  All software licenses will be provided for your use on the day.
